3 Bears Trade Targets Who Would Fit in Dennis Allen's New Defense
2. Khalen Saunders, DT, New Orleans Saints
Saunders is not going to break any social media outlets if he were to be traded, but he played in Allen's defense in New Orleans and is a quality depth piece. He was drafted in the third-round round by the Chiefs and won a Super Bowl with them in 2022 where he posted two tackles and a sack against the Eagles.
The Saints and Dennis Allen signed him to a three-year deal after that where he has played since. He is coming off a season where he tallied 2 sacks, 3 tackles for a loss, and even an interception. Some fans may remember the interception over anything else this season.
The Saints are in the worst spot in the NFL when it comes to cap space, not to mention they are still without a head coach as of writing this. Trading Saunders would save them $2.5M in salary cap. This isn't going to save them entirely, but they may be looking to drop as many contracts as they can which means the price tag could be as low as a seventh-round pick.
Saunders will not make the Bears an elite defense, but he is a guy who knows Allen's scheme up front and can provide quality depth to a defensive line in desperate need of such.
