The Bears are enjoying one of their best starts in years, looking like true contenders with a revamped offense and smothering defense. Even still, general manager Ryan Poles is already looking ahead to 2025 to ensure this young foundation has the best opportunity to succeed.

QB Caleb Williams has emerged as one of the most promising players in the NFL and Chicago looks poised to make the postseason based on a weak second-half schedule, giving fans optimism that a Super Bowl appearance could be in the picture.

Despite the strong start to the campaign, the Bears' roster still clearly has some holes. Let's look at some players who have already played their way out of Poles' future plans.

1. Nate Davis - OL

The 2019 third-round pick has been the subject of much debate over the last several weeks as his underwhelming production gives credence to those who think Nate Davis should be traded. He could have value and has seemingly fallen out of favor with the Ravens' coaching staff, making a potential trade the most logical conclusion.

He's started two games and dressed for five but hasn't delivered on the promise and experience under his belt. Davis was thought of as a bonafide starter coming into the year but has struggled, paving the way for a replacement to step in and help the offense.

Ruled out of Week 8 against the Commanders, Davis' contributions have been limited at best and he looks like a player who should be on his way off the roster. He's only started two games this year and was routinely floated as a trade chip ahead of the deadline.

While the Bears shipped off veteran RB Khalil Herbert, they held onto Davis. That being said, virtually the entire offensive line needs and upgrade and there won't be a place on it for Davis in 2025.

Chicago needs massive changes on the line and coaching staff to fix an offense that's been among the most disappointing in the NFL. Davis has a lot of potential but a fresh start elsewhere would benefit all parties.
