3 Bears on the Chopping Block Next After Shane Waldron Firing

3. Ryan Poles

It would be shocking to see the Bears’ leadership fire Poles, especially after orchestrating the DJ Moore trade, which put the franchise in a position to land Caleb Williams.

However, with Eberflus’ tenure going sideways this season, the Bears could clean house by getting rid of both guys. The Bears hired Poles in Jan. 2022 after firing Ryan Pace and then-head coach Matt Nagy.

At the same time, the Bears also hired Eberflus, so they are tied at the hip. However, Chicago’s poor play can’t be blamed on the GM as he’s given Eberflus the tools to succeed this and last season.

Last season, Poles made the blockbuster trade to acquire Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders, giving them a bonafide pass rusher to join a talented defense.

Then this past offseason, the Bears Williams and Odunze in the draft, signed D’Andre Swift in free agency, and acquired Allen from the Chargers.

At this point, Poles has done everything he could from a personnel standpoint to get the Bears to the next level, outside of a new head coach. If Chicago moves on from Eberflus, Poles must get the next head coach hiring correct or he will be on the hot seat in 2025.
