3 Bears Making it Easy for Chicago to Say Goodbye in 2025

With how underwhelming the 2024 season has been, the Chicago Bears must make some serious offseason changes — starting with parting ways with these three players.

2. Travis Homer, RB

If you forgot that Travis Homer is still on the Bears' roster, chances are that you aren't the only one.

The ex-2019 sixth-rounder has been sparingly used this season, playing just 51 offensive snaps that resulted in three carries for 16 rushing yards in eight games. While that isn't too unusual considering that he was used more in a kick-returning role in 2023, it's worth noting that he's only returned one kick across 141 special teams plays this season.

It's unlikely that Homer's situation will improve as long as he remains in Chicago. The Bears have focused on handing the ball off to D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson this season, leaving Homer at the bottom of the pecking order. That won't change if he continues failing to capitalize on his chances.

The fact that Homer is a pending free agent also lessens the possibility of a return to the Windy City. He's done next to nothing to prove that he deserves a second contract, meaning the Bears will likely look to replace him with a younger option that has some higher upside.

Barring an unexpected turnaround, fans should prepare to part ways with Homer this offseason.
