Will you remain a fan of the White Sox if they leave Chicago?

Not that it would matter for the city that gets the White Sox, but the current fanbase would be left with this decision.

The White Sox should still exist next decade. They might just be playing in Nashville or Charlotte or Salt Lake. That is when a decision has to be made on continuing to love the White Sox or be loyal to the Chicago White Sox.

You would have to search deep in your soul to determine what your fandom is based on. Is it based on loving this team because they play in Chicago? Is it because something drew you to the White Sox brand?

Then again, the soul-searching might not be too long because this organization keeps making it easy to hate them.

Still, it is an interesting internal debate fans might have. Typically abandoning the team is what happens the moment they leave town.

For example, you do not see a ton of Braves fans walking around Milwaukee. St. Louis residents were not popping champagne when the Rams won the Super Bowl a few years back. Cleveland was not happy when Art Modell won a Super Bowl in Baltimore. Not many folks are going to Oakland Athletics games these days.

Loyalty to a franchise because of the team’s location versus the club itself will be tested. Although a majority will probably be relieved they can be free of the White Sox if they leave town.
