The Chicago Bulls have won three games in a row since news broke that star guard Zach LaVine would miss a week while dealing with right foot soreness.

The Bulls’ latest victory came on Wednesday night when they defeated the Charlotte Horners 111-100 at the United Center. After the game, the Bulls announced that LaVine would miss an additional 3-4 weeks as he continues to recover.

The news should all but confirm that LaVine has likely played his last game in a Bulls uniform.

Before the injury, LaVine had requested a trade from the team but the belief was that no deal would occur before December 15. December 15 is when teams can trade players who signed new deals this past summer. The belief is that the Los Angeles Lakers will be the team to watch.

Based on the timeline, Lavine’s potential return would not be until the first week of January. By that team, it stands to reason that the Lakers, or a different team, will have the flexibility to make an offer to the Bulls.

There is no reason for LaVine to play another game with the Bulls. With their play over the past week, the Bulls have proved that LaVine was a large part of the reason for their struggles. At this point, it’s clear that the Bulls do not want LaVine on their roster and the All-Star does not want to be with the Bulls. Rather than risk further injury, the Bulls are comfortable with LaVine sitting on the bench while they wait for the best trade offer.
