The Chicago Blackhawks are at the bottom of the NHL standings.

Not being able to win consecutive games and a weak offense on the power play is a big reason.

Taylor Hall going down for the season has not helped. Having half of the defensemen group playing in their first full season also will not breed a lot of winning because of the rookie mistakes.

Mistakes are part of the growing process. So is losing.

The Chicago Blackhawks are doing a lot of losing. They are in the middle of a three-game losing streak. They had a three-game losing spell in mid-October. The Hawks have also had a five-game losing skid this season.

We still have five months to go this season.

No one said this extensive rebuild was going to be pretty. It just would be nice to see the Chicago Blackhawks be more than these two things this season.

The Hawks are Connor Bedard.

He is the only reason to tune in on a nightly basis. The phenom is everything the draft hype predicted he would be.

Bedard leads the team in points, goals, and is tied for first in assists.

The Blackhawks needed him to be on the ice for the three goals they scored on the recently completed three-game road trip.

There just is not much talent around him especially with Hall out.

Although, Philipp Kurashev and Bedard have established some chemistry. Kurashev has four goals and nine assists on the season. His play has improved since he joined Bedard on the top line.

Lukas Reichel was supposed to be the other budding star for the Hawks this season. He has played like the forgotten top prospect he became the moment Bedard was drafted by the franchise.

His play has declined to the point that Reichel was a healthy scratch against Minnesota.

Anthony Beauvillier was recently acquired to provide help. He has been having visa issues that has kept him from skating with Bedard in the states.

The fourth line has been playing well, but none of those guys are good enough to skate on a nightly basis on the top line.

Alex Vlasic and Kevin Korchinski are showing promise on the blue line. Their play has not impacted the game like Bedard. That means general manager Kyle Davidson still has a lot of work to do to build the roster around Bedard.

The Chicago Blackhawks are the get right team in the NHL.

The Hawks are the team the rest of the league wants to play. Struggling to win? In the middle of a losing streak? Need to extend a winning streak?

Just play the Blackhawks.

The Wild have bounced back from a seven-game losing streak and firing their head coach to a three-game victory streak with a Sunday win over Hawks.

The Winnipeg Jets ended a three-game losing streak with an easy two-goal victory last Saturday. The Arizona Coyotes put up eight goals on the Hawks in November to end a two-game losing streak.

The Columbus Blue Jackets snapped a nine-game winless streak with a dominate 7-3 win over the Hawks in November.

Last year’s team was awful, but they were not an easy victory. This season the Hawks have been rolled pretty easy on most nights.

At least the organization is doing something about it. The demoted defenseman Wyatt Kaiser to Rockford after he struggled. Reichel could be joining him soon if he keeps struggling.

Struggling is always the plight of every rebuilding franchise. The Blackhawks are no exception.
