The Detroit Red Wings landed the services of Chicago Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane and then picked up a win over their rivals.

Kane, who signed with Detroit during the week after missing the first two months of the season because of offseason hip surgery, did not play in the game at Little Caesars Arena.

It did not matter as the Red Wings rolled the Hawks for a four-goal victory.

Here are three things you should know about the Chicago Blackhawks’ inability to win consecutive games…

Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser had a rough night.

He has had a rough go adjusting to the NHL game. Kaiser finished with a -2.

Robby Fabbri made him look like an amateur when some nifty stick maneuvering allowed Fabbri to beat Kaiser with the result being the Red Wings taking the lead and never giving it back.

Kaiser made an incorrect decision on another Detroit goal. He went down to the ice thinking the shot would go low. Instead, his momentum carried him right into Petr Mrazek, preventing the netminder from blocking the shot that went high.

Kaiser is one of the team’s three defensemen playing in their first full NHL season. Alex Vlasic and Kevin Korchinski have had their share of rookie mistakes too. At the same time, they have had more positive moments than Kaiser.

Hopefully, Wyatt can learn from this one as he still has much potential.

The Chicago Blackhawks gave up another short-handed goal.

It is the second consecutive game the Hawks gave up a shorty when J.T. Compher scored the game’s first goal.

That matters because the Blackhawks have the league’s second-worst power-play percentage. The team is barely scoring as it is on the man advantage. They cannot afford the opponent to get scoring chances in those situations with their poor power play conversion rate.

Speaking of the power play, the Hawks’ only goal came on it.

It was Lukas Reichel who scored the goal. The struggling winger helped the Hawks answer Compher’s goal when he buried a rebound into the back of the net.

Head coach Luke Richardson would like to see more of what happened on that goal on the power play.

If the Chicago Blackhawks can keep putting the puck on the net when they have the man advantage, hopefully, it will lead to more goals and possibly getting that elusive win streak.
