The Chicago Bears had another embarrassing Sunday yesterday as the team lost 31-26 to the Detroit Lions. What the final score fails to shed light on is the fact that the Bears were winning 26-14 with 4:15 left in the game.

For all the jokes that have been made at the Lions’ expense throughout the years, it is the Bears that have truly become an embarrassment of an NFL franchise.

That sentiment is not just shared among Bears fans but the team’s former players as well.

Former NFL tight end Martellus Bennett played for the Bears from 2013 through 2015 and did not hold back on social media on Sunday while talking about his former team.

Bennett did not pull his punches and there was nothing incorrect with what he said. Sure, young football fans in Chicago may like Justin Fields but they probably have no connection with this team. The reason for that is that The McCaskey Family constantly has dated practices for the Bears’ football operations.

The fact of the matter is that The McCaskey family does not know how to run a modern-day football organization. The McCaskey Family routinely depends on football dinosaurs to make the important hires of their football structure and it has backed fired with every single hire since the Lovie Smith era.

The hope is that Kevin Warren can usher the Bears into the modern era of the NFL. Up until this point, Warren has yet to make his presence felt regarding the team’s football operations and that is where his input is needed most.

The Bears are one of the charter franchises of the NFL but lack the leadership or foresight to be a respectable NFL franchise in 2023. The fact that Bennett, who was only with the team for three seasons, can properly diagnose the Bears’ problem while the leadership at Halas Hall is plagued with HR investigation after HR investigation just highlights how this franchise has become.
