The Carolina Panthers continue to lose.

This is the Chicago Bears’ best chance to land the No. 1 overall pick for the second consecutive year.

Having the top pick and Fields proving he is the guy allows Poles to once again entertain trading that pick for more draft assets or top-caliber players.

If Fields fails, then having the top pick gives the franchise a chance to draft a quarterback. Even if the Panthers fall out of having to transfer the top pick to the Bears, it would still be good for them to finish with the second-worst record.

That way the Bears do not fall out of the chance to draft quarterbacks Caleb Williams out of USC or Drake Maye out of North Carolina.

Again, Poles only needs to consider taking a quarterback if Fields fails.

You need to add whoever plays the Panthers as your next favorite team since Carolina has no incentive to tank.

The hope is Bryce Young continues to start and looks overwhelmed. Please make no mistake about it, the Panthers are bad. Young as their starting quarterback makes them even worse.

No matter what, you do not want to see Carolina’s pick fall beyond the No. 3 selection. Having the third pick still ensures the Bears have a shot to draft wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. That would be a nice weapon to add to the offense with an improved Justin Fields if he has an ideal finish.
