The Chicago Bears need to hire this offensive coordinator
Chicago Bears fans have grown upset with the team’s current coaching staff as it would seem that offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has failed to embrace the idea that Justin Fields is the team’s starting quarterback Justin Fields.
There have been constant calls for change at the offensive coordinator post for the Bears but it would seem that there won’t be any on-the-field related changes to the team’s coaching staff for the remainder of this season.
The same can not be said about the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills are 5-5 on the season after entering the season being viewed as a potential Super Bowl contender.
After a 24-22 loss that saw the Bills’ starting quarterback Josh Allen commit 3 turnovers and running back James Cook fumble on the first play of the game, the Bills announced on Tuesday that offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey had been fired.
The Chicago Bears should have an interest in hiring former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey to their coaching staff.
Imagine that, a team seeing the regression of their franchise quarterback and firing their offensive coordinator in an attempt to get the season back on track. The Bears would never.
But, here’s the problem with what the Bills did, Dorsey was not the problem. Allen has been a turnover machine for the Bills’ offense this season and advanced metrics would seem to suggest that Dorsey was putting the offense in a position to succeed.
The Bills needed a scapegoat for what has gone wrong with their season and it certainly wasn’t going to be Allen.
Yes, in case you’re wondering, the Bears absolutely should get Dorsey in the building. Dorsey was credited for the reason Allen took a step forward in his career and had been in the top tier of quarterback play for the previous two seasons.
As the Bears likely will be adding a new franchise quarterback in the making to their roster this off-season, Dorsey is certainly a candidate to keep in mind if there are coaching changes for the team after the season.
