Trade Three

The Chicago Cubs could get Dylan Cease for prospects and MLB players.

In 2021, the Chicago White Sox acquired Craig Kimbrel from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Nick Madrigal and Codi Heuer. That was a terrible trade for the White Sox because Kimbrel was awful for them. Madrigal and Heuer have been okay at best but at least they somewhat help the Cubs.

Madrigal is actually an okay utility man. He can play any position on the infield not counting first base. He is the perfect guy to have on the bench ready to take any role needed for him. He might even be a starting second baseman on a team like the White Sox.

He also can hit at the top or the bottom of a lineup because of his ability to hit little slap singles. When men are in scoring position, having Madrigal at the plate can score you some runs. There is almost no power there but he can hit for a lot of contact.

Getting good prospects like Kevin Alcantara, Matt Mervis, and Kohl Franklin in addition to Madrigal might see the Sox getting some good value for Cease. They may not hit but that is the case for any prospect package coming back in a trade.

Getting Cease would be a good idea for the Cubs. It would hurt the White Sox to see him go back where he came from but there are worst possible scenarios for them. Making one of these trades for a starter like that would absolutely be worth it.
