Trade Two

The Chicago Cubs could move a few prospects to get Dylan Cease.

The Chicago White Sox might want more than just one prospect in a return for Dylan Cease. Obviously, one of those super-elite prospects like Pete Crow-Armstrong are an exception but most of the time, they’d want value and volume for Cease.

Cade Horton is the number two prospect in the Cubs system behind Crow-Armstrong. He is a right-handed pitcher who finished the year in AA. He could be in the league by the time 2024 hits depending on his health and progression.

Jordan Wicks pitched in the big leagues at the end of the year and he was very good. There is obviously room for improvement but he is close to being an everyday pitcher. He certainly expects to be on the big league club out of spring training in 2024.

Ed Howard played for the Chicago White Sox ACE Program when he was younger so it would be so fitting to see him end up in this organization.

He was once a first-round draft pick and highly valued Cubs prospect. Now, he is outside of their top-30 prospects thanks to some injuries and inconsistencies. It is a risk worth taking for the Chicago White Sox at this point.
