The Texas Rangers are the World Series champions. Nobody saw that coming at the beginning of the season but they made it into a reality. They used a method that teams like the Chicago Cubs can absolutely use going forward.

The Rangers brought up a few of their nice prospects and they supplemented them with good trades and a few free agent signings. All of this came together and they won big not long after making these decisions.

Texas spent big money on guys like Nathan Eovaldi, Jacob deGrom, Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Jon Gray amongst others. The rest of the team fit very nicely into place once they had guys like that in the mix.

The Chicago Cubs already have a very nice core that includes guys like Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson, Seiya Suzuki, and Nico Hoerner amongst others. Some more big moves can be made though as they can become the Texas Rangers if they want to.

The Chicago Cubs could make a big move this off-season to try and win big.

If they wanted, they could make big trades for guys like Juan Soto and/or Peter Alonso. Both of them would fit in very well with this team. The power on this team would be as good as any team in the league if they added these two. They’d become a contender right away.

They also can give Cody Bellinger an extension. The Cubs can afford to do all of these things if they want to. He fits in very well with this franchise so there is no point in not bringing him back.

The Texas Rangers are proof that type of plan this can work out well for them if they execute it. More work would be needed but it would be a perfect start. Jed Hoyer would be announcing to the world that he is trying to win at all costs.

If you added guys like Soto and Alonso to this lineup, they would be amongst the best in the National League. No pitcher would want to face that lineup. They bring experience in addition to tons of talent.

A lot of teams might see what Texas did this year and try to replicate it but the Cubs have what it takes to get it done. We’ll see if they have the will to make big moves like this. If they do, they might be able to make Chicago very proud of them.
