2 winners (and 2 losers) from Chicago Bears loss to LA Chargers
Losers
The Chicago Bears had a lot of losers but a few stick out above the rest.
1. Tyson Bagent
Tyson Bagent threw the ball 37 times but he only completed 25 passes. He had 232 yards on those 25 completions. On the surface, that doesn’t look terrible but he is clearly not a guy for the Chicago Bears future. Of his 232 yards, 41 of them came on the first play of the game to Mooney.
You can’t win running a game of short gain. Bagent isn’t a guy making big throws. When he tries, he makes a very interceptable throw. He ended up with two picks officially.
He had one pick taken away because the Charger defender didn’t hang on and there were at least three other bad throws that could have had plays made on them by the defense. Justin Fields, who also isn’t the guy, can’t come back fast enough.
2. Velus Jones Jr.
Velus Jones Jr. was a bad draft pick for Ryan Poles. In a draft that the Bears needed a good wide receiver, he took Jones Jr. in the third round and he is officially a bust. He shouldn’t even be dressed anymore.
He is supposed to be good at returning kicks. He can’t even decide which ones to bring out of the endzone or keep for a touchback. He had one return go for 24 yards.
He also only had one reception for four yards so he wasn’t even a threat as a WR. He actually had a defender beat for a huge gain and he dropped the ball in the endzone. He is just so clearly not an NFL receiver and shouldn’t be on the team for much longer.
When the whole team is this bad it is hard to pick out just a couple of guys who are losers but these two stood out this week. There will certainly be new people every week because everyone on this team outside of DJ Moore is having a lackluster season.
