Take a bow, Tyson Bagent. The undrafted rookie from Division II Shepherd University deserves it after leading the Chicago Bears (2-5) to a convincing 30-12 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.

He wasn’t the only standout, however. The Bears’ defense played arguably their best game of the season at all three levels, inspiring confidence that the recent improvement is no fluke.

Finally, the coaching staff on both sides of the ball made sound decisions and outcoached their counterparts. It really is a shame that the Chicago Bears can’t face Josh McDaniels every week.

The Chicago Bears finally provided positive takeaways in their Week 7 win vs. the Las Vegas Raiders

1. Started from the bottom, now he’s here

Prior to Sunday, Tyson Bagent last started a game against the Colorado School of Mines. Now, he’s started for the Chicago Bears against the Las Vegas Raiders and won.

With the offense tailored to his strengths as a quarterback, Bagent operated efficiently with poise, confidence, and precision. While the offense did seem to lose their ability to stretch the field in the passing game, it didn’t matter on Sunday.

The quick decision-making and pinpoint accuracy of Tyson Bagent was complemented by the Chicago defense’s performance, allowing for a dominant ball-control game script in favor of the Bears.

His performance was reminiscent of old Chicago Bear Kyle Orton’s rookie season games in 2005.

He made the plays to get the ball methodically down the field and score, eating up time of possession effortlessly. He was a great game manager, which is not an insult.

The man nicknamed “Secret Bagent Man” was cool and calm under the spotlight on Sunday, earning the adoration of Bears Nation as well as the interest of many nationwide.

It is not hyperbole to state that the story of Tyson Bagent is one of the most interesting stories in the entire National Football League so far this season. He is an inspiring individual.

Asked after the game about his experience, Bagent stated, “Don’t ever let anybody’s opinion stop you from chasing what you want.”

While Bagent provided excitement and optimism for his future, his success Sunday was aided by a complete team effort, including a milestone of a day for one Chicago Bears defensive player.
