Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks ripped through the Brewers and the Los Angeles Dodgers to get to the National League Championship Series. They have gotten there with good starting pitching from Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Brandon Pfaadt.

Pfaadt was part of a pitching effort that held the Philadelphia Phillies to a run in Game 3 after the Phillies got to Gallen and Kelly in the first two games.

They are about to find out if their fourth starter can help even the series. The problem for the Diamondbacks was they did not have a strong rotation through the regular season after Gallen and Kelly.

Pfaadt had an ERA over 5.00. It was his rookie season and he is showing in the postseason he has the stuff to be special.

The Diamondbacks might not have the arms to get past the Phillies. If they do not, it would be a smart idea for them to pursue Cease.

They have the 12th-best prospect system in the Majors. The issue is a lot of their top prospects have not played above Double-A.

If the Chicago White Sox were trying to do a long-term rebuild, the prospects the Diamondbacks have to offer make sense. The problem is the Sox rebuild is on a faster timeline.

Pitcher Slade Cecconi and outfielder Dominic Fletcher have flashed some potential at the big-league level. Blaze Alexander can play second, shortstop, and third base. He is close to being ready to make the jump to the big leagues.
