3 Blackhawks veterans that are helping the most right now
2. Nick Foligno
Nick Foligno is bringing great leadership to this Chicago Blackhawks team.
The Chicago Blackhawks needed a few “captain-like” players to come in knowing that there were going to be so many young kids coming up. Nick Foligno, who has been an NHL captain before, was a great choice for Kyle Davidson and his staff.
Foligno never had the scoring touch that Perry had and the same applies even in their older age. However, Foligno is no bum either. He can still make plays and score some goals in a depth role which is very fun to watch. So far, he has been brilliant in every regard.
Foligno plays a physical game that sets the tone for the rest of the team as well. Nobody is going to consider messing with the kids knowing that they might have to deal with Foligno.
This is a guy who is coming off a year in which his team had the best regular season of all time. Then, he (and his Boston Bruins teammates) had their hearts ripped out in the first round. This is a veteran that knows the highest of highs and lowest of lows.
Again, he’s a brilliant addition in a developmental year like this. In 10 years, guys like Connor Bedard, Kevin Korchinski, and Alex Vlasic will be better for being teammates with Foligno in the beginning.
