The Chicago Bears came into this weekend feeling good about themselves. Justin Fields had two pretty good games in a row and they didn’t blow the lead in the most recent one. With an almost as bad Minnesota Vikings team coming to town, they figured that they had a chance to win.
Well, they were wrong. The Bears lost to the one team that may have just as bad of a defense by a final score of 19-13. Nobody on the Bears really had a good day on either side of the ball which is part of the reason that they are now 1-5.
Justin Fields is one of the many folks who deserve blame for the way that this season has gone so far. In this game, he went 6/10 for 58 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Fields also ran the ball eight times for 46 yards.
If that seems like it is a light workload, that’s because it is. The Bears lost more than just the game in this one.
The Chicago Bears lost Justin Fields in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Fields left the game early with a hand injury and did not return. That is something that the Chicago Bears did not need to happen in this game. They need to see how he is playing and he wasn’t playing all that well before he got hurt. Not being able to redeem himself isn’t great.
Tyson Bagent came in for Fields and was as awful as you’d expect. He threw the ball 14 times and completed ten passes which is nice but they didn’t go for very much yardage. He only had 83 yards so there were a lot of short completions. He also threw an interception that sealed the loss.
This is a very bad loss that makes it clear that the Chicago Bears are one of the two worst teams in the NHL. They should be happy they have even one win at this point. Now, being without Fields is going to make things harder if that becomes their reality for a fair amount of time.
It is tough for games like this to also include a bad injury to an important player. Things very well could go from bad to worse as this season goes along.
