The Chicago White Sox also have a few other problems going on right now.

Solving second base and right field.

Second base and right field have been a hole in the Sox lineup for over a decade. This season’s failed attempt involved trying rookie Oscar Colas in right and veteran Elvis Andrus playing second base full-time for the first time in his career. The results were an utter failure. Much like we’ve seen in the past.

Andrus failed to hit like he did when he came to the Southside late in the 2022 season. Colas was so bad that he was demoted to Triple-A in late September. That’s right, the team sent him back to the minors when the big-league club had nothing to play for.

That shows you what the new front office thinks of Colas. Getz must try to fix what seems like a never-ending problem for the Chicago White Sox. His rumored solution does not seem too appealing which we will address right now.

How many players with ties to the Kansas Royals will be brought in?

Second basemen Whit Merrifield is being speculated as a free-agent target this offseason. Trading for catcher Salvador Perez seems likely too.

The Sox were rumored to have inquired about Perez before the trade deadline because manager Pedro Grifol likes his leadership.

Getz and Grifol have strong ties to the Royals, so it would not be shocking to see them bring in players who spent time in Kansas City.

Why the Sox have such a fascination with one of the few franchises worse than them is beyond understanding.

The Royals could have promoted Grifol to manager and did not. Merrifield and Perez’ prime years are behind them. Yet, you should be bracing yourself for them being the major acquisitions of the offseason.

This is what you get when the owner mistakes speed for accuracy.
