Blackhawks News: This Brent Seabrook update is amazing
The Chicago Blackhawks fans were all-in on the World Juniors last season. With the team where they were in the standings, there were a few prospects worth watching with the upcoming draft in mind. Connor Bedard and Adam Fantilli were on Team Canada and Leo Carlsson was on Team Sweden.
There were also a few of their already drafted prospects there to be excited about as well. Guys like Kevin Korchinski, Ethan del Mastro, and Colton Dach stick out as players who were fun to watch knowing they were future Hawks.
The Blackhawks got extra lucky and ended up with Bedard. However, they are probably going to be picking pretty high again this year so keeping an eye on the World Juniors is going to be a thing once again this holiday season.
With all that in mind, there is a little bit of extra fun for Blackhawks fans this year. On Friday, we learned that Brent Seabrook is going to be a part of the Team Canada management staff.
Chicago Blackhawks legend Brent Seabrook is about to start a new gig.
His role has yet to be identified. Seabrook has been doing developmental work with the Vancouver Giants for a while now so this is another good step for him.
He will be working with Pete Anholt who is currently the GM of the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL. He has been doing that job for nine years now. His role with Team Canada alongside Seabrook is also uncertain.
The head coach is going to be Alan Letan who is also the head coach of the Sarnia Sting of the OHL. He is in his third year doing that.
All three of these men are clearly involved in Canadian junior hockey and are well-equipped to put together what will be another very good Team Canada squad at the World Junior Classic. You’d think that Seabrook has an interest in the future to do something like this in the NHL.
He is doing a lot of things as the years go on to kind of get his feet wet in the industry which is smart of him if he does actually want to become a coach or GM at this level. As mentioned before, this is a great start and it will be fun to see what he can do to help this team go for Gold again.
