Kevin Korchinski is going to make his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to improve what was one of the league’s worst defenses this season. They might not do much better this year but they want to develop some of their young studs. One of the most important is Kevin Korchinski.

The Hawks are wasting no time with him. After an amazing season with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL last season, the former seventh-overall pick is getting his chance in the NHL to start the season.

If he doesn’t belong yet, he will be shipped off to the Thunderbirds again and we will see him next year. If he clearly deserves to stay, and his preseason suggests that he might, he will finish the year with the Chicago Blackhawks.

This is not an AHL-eligible player because of his WHL status so it is either there or Chicago. No matter where he plays out there, however, Chicago’s number two overall prospect is going to be must-see TV all year long.
