The Chicago Blackhawks are getting ready for a very exciting season. There are a lot of things to be super pumped about as a fan but there is a lot of work to be done.

This franchise is not that far removed from its golden era that saw them win the Stanley Cup three times in six years. 2010, 2013, and 2015 will be remembered as the great years that they can only try to recreate one day.

With the way this off-season has gone, it is clear that building for sustained success once again is their goal. That comes with adding a ton of young talent into the organization while being completely okay with losing some games in the NHL.

They did a lot of losing in the past two years and some amazing prospects have come from it. There might be more losing this year but they will be developing some more really good players. These five prospects are going to be must-watch throughout the 2023-24 season:

1. Drew Commesso

The Blackhawks would love to see Drew Commesso become a good NHL goalie.

The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Drew Commesso with their second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The former 46th overall selection hoped to become a good NHL goalie from that point on. He went to Boston University before signing his ELC at the end of last year.

He didn’t make his NHL debut and didn’t even get into any AHL games for that matter. Both of those are likely to change at some point this year. He will begin the year with the Rockford Ice Hogs and see how he does.

Right now, he is listed as the fourth guy in the organization but that could change at any instant. He is a great goalie with a high pedigree so big things are expected of him. He should end up being a big part of a good Rockford team right away.

Commesso is right there with Arvid Soderblom as a guy who may be the goalie of the future for the team. Obviously, it is a hard position to get a read on when it comes to the future but he is firmly in the mix. He is someone to keep an eye on this season.
