3 winners (and 2 losers) for Bears in week 5 win over Commanders
Winners
There are three players that stick out as overall winners in this game.
1. Justin Fields
There is no doubt that Justin Fields is an impressive player right now. That is two good games (minus the fourth quarter vs. Denver) in a row for him now. He was very good in this win over the Commanders on Thursday.
It is probably the best win that Fields has had as a pro. He went 15/29 for 282 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran the ball 11 times for 57 yards. If he can string together a few more games like that, the entire perception will change.
2. DJ Moore
The Chicago Bears made a big move for the DJ Moore during the off-season. It was a trade that included the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft so clearly they needed a lot from him once the games began.
When they made that trade, they dreamed of nights like this. He made eight receptions for a remarkable 230 yards. He also had three touchdowns so it was clearly the best game he’s had as a Chicago Bear.
In fact, it was probably his best game as a pro as well. They need to see more of this from Moore as the year goes on.
3. Greg Stroman Jr.
The Chicago Bears defense isn’t very good but they were good enough in this game to get the win. One player that deserves some love is Greg Stroman Jr. He had four tackles and three assists which is nice but he had a sack and an interception in the game.
He was a big key in the defense getting it done. If he can be a good player for them the rest of the season, they might continue to improve. He was put in because of some injuries so his nice training camp has paid off for him. We’ll see how much more time he gets.
He was drafted by Washington in 2018 and he played there for three years so this was somewhat of a revenge game for him. It was fun to watch.
