This is a rare Thursday gameday for the Chicago Bears. They really don’t deserve to be on primetime anymore but for some reason, the NFL feels the need to show off this terrible 0-4 team to the country on a somewhat regular basis.

Just because Chicago is the third largest market in the NFL doesn’t make their football team exciting. Smaller market teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens are significantly more fun to watch.

The Chicago Bears had a 28-7 lead over the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon. This was well into the second half too. In typical Bears fashion, they threw it all away and the Broncos came all the way back to win the game by a final score of 31-28.

Head coach Matt Eberflus was terrible, quarterback Justin Fields was awful in the fourth quarter after the best three-quarters of his career before that, and the defense started to just play terrible football.

Now, they will try to pick up the pieces in this game against the Washington Commanders. In order to do so, they should bench these three players:

1. Elijah Hicks

The Chicago Bears should not have Elijah Hicks suit up on Thursday.

The Chicago Bears used Elijah Hicks in place of Eddie Jackson on Sunday but that can’t be the case again this week vs the Commanders. There have to be other players that they have that they can try.

This is a player that let people dance all over him in their loss to the Broncos. He also had a few key missed tackles, one of which allowed the Broncos to set up the game-winning field goal with a much more “kicker-friendly” distance.

There is no reason to keep trotting out bad players if they aren’t helping them win. There has to be some kind of accountability. If Eddie Jackson isn’t good to go, which he isn’t, someone else deserves a chance in his spot after what we saw vs. Denver.
