The Chicago Blackhawks are a very intriguing team coming into the 2023-24 season. They are supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league and that is likely to be the case. Nobody is really arguing that because of their goaltending and defense coming into the year.

However, despite what should be a tough year in terms of wins and losses, there is a lot of excitement around them which doesn’t happen often for bad teams. Of course, that is because of the fact that they have Connor Bedard coming to town after making him the number-one pick.

He is one of the most hyped-up prospects in the history of the NHL because of what he did in his youth. His success with the Regina Pats and Team Canada at the World Junior Classic made it clear that he was going to be an elite NHL player.

When you think of guys like Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid, Bedard is the next in line behind guys like that. If he went on to have that type of career, it would be him reaching his ceiling as a player. It should be expected for him to be a franchise player right away.

The Chicago Blackhawks have something good going with their first line.

On Tuesday night, Bedard is going to play in another preseason game. He hasn’t scored a goal yet but he has had some grade-A chances on the net. He has also had some incredible assists and that includes a beautiful pass to set up an overtime winner by Andreas Athanasiou.

In this Tuesday night game, Bedard is slated to play on a line with Taylor Hall and Ryan Donato. This could be a line that dominates in the regular season if it sticks. A lot of people thought that Lukas Reichel would be that right winger but they are using him at center which may be very smart too.

Hall is a former Hart Trophy winner as he was the MVP of the league in 2018 with the New Jersey Devils. Since then, he hasn’t been quite the same but he is still an outstanding player. As for Donato, he has bounced around a little bit but he can be the worker on the line.

With Hall and Bedard being former number-one picks in the draft, they clearly have a ton of skill. If Donato can win some battles down low and get to the net on a regular basis, this line will give people fits all year long.

It should be so fun to watch. If it dominates on Tuesday night, that could very well end up being the first line on Opening Night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hopefully, this line is as exciting on the ice as it is on paper.
