Sean McVay would be a great hire for the Chicago Bears as head coach.

Sean McVay’s coaching tree in the Mike Shanahan coaching forest has produced Zac Taylor, Matt LaFleur, and Kevin O’Connell.

It would make sense to go with a coach who comes from one of the best offensive minds in the game.

Mike LaFleur is currently the Rams’ offensive coordinator.  He was a disaster as a play-caller for the New York Jets. Maybe being in the presence of McVay could turn him into a good head coaching candidate.

His quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Zac Robinson would be an interesting candidate.

He has worked with quarterbacks his entire coaching career and has an analytics background. It might not be his time, but then again everyone thought the same thing about McVay.

Another option from his coaching tree is Brian Callahan of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Callahan never directly worked with McVay, but he is Taylor’s right-hand man. He also has worked with quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, and Derrick Carr.

He is credited with helping develop Joe Burrow. Callahan has the quarterback credentials necessary to put him at the top of the list. Who knows if he can fix Fields, but he would be a good head coach to pair with a quarterback Poles drafts.

Also, Kyle Shanahan’s tree in his dad’s coaching woods would be worth looking at. Right now, there is not a name that stands out. Brian Griese is someone to keep tabs on, but he is in his first year as an NFL assistant.
