The Chicago Bears’ offensive line continues to be decimated with injuries.

Starting left guard Teven Jenkins began the season on the IR with a calf injury and starting left tackle Braxton Jones may be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a neck injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The Bears placed Jones on IR on Wednesday with the designation to return but head coach Matt Eberflus did not rule out the idea that the second-year tackle may be out for the remainder of the season.

It would appear that the next man up to take Jones’ spot on the offensive line is Larry Borom. Borom was replaced at the right tackle position this season by rookie Darnell Wright.

Borom struggled last season as the team’s starting right tackle and that was the driving force behind the Bears’ decision to take Wright in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. While Jones did draw praise for his efforts as the Bears’ starting left tackle last season, it was usually followed with the caveat of “for a fifth-rounder”.

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams update

Eberflus did not provide any update on the status of defensive coordinator Alan Williams after Williams missed last Sunday’s game due to personal reasons.

It should be worth noting that Eberflus was asked questions in relation to the current status of Williams for Sunday’s game, if he has talked to Williams, and if Williams is still employed by the team as the defensive coordinator.

The one certainty is that it would appear that Eberflus will be calling the defensive plays for the second consecutive week when the team plays the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Chicago Bears injury updates for wide receiver Darnell Mooney and safety Eddie Jackson.

The Bears’ official injury report will be released later today but Eberflus did indicate some optimism around the injuries that wide receiver Darnell Mooney and safety Eddie Jackson on Sunday.
