The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took care of business as they played the Central Michigan Chippewas in a game that felt rather messy and more evenly matched than it should have. The final score was 41-17.

The offense, led by Sam Hartman was unstoppable. He went 16-26 with 3 TDs for 330 Total Passing Yards. Audric Estime came through with a big load of 176 Yards rushing with 1 TD.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking strong ahead of an important game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday.

Although the stat lines were amazing, I couldn’t help but be disappointed at the personal foul penalties committed. There were a total of 8 fouls committed for 72 yards,  Not sure why these penalties are being committed, but they cost the Irish some points allowed.

In the first quarter, defensive end Joshua Burnham committed a 15-yard roughing of the passer that led to a touchdown by the Chippewas. These are fouls that should not be happening. The defense has to be better because these are self-inflicted. The Irish were missing some of their leadership J.D Bertrand and DJ Brown to keep the defense level-headed and focused.

With this learning experience, the Fighting Irish can learn from this when they take on (6) Ohio State on Saturday, September 23rd.

Heading into the matchup, the offense looks like they are loaded and ready to roll with solid runs from Estime and great connections from Hartman to Merriweather and Tyree.

BOLD PREDICTION: I think that Notre Dame will come out and win this game. They are underdogs in this game, but you know the saying…Hungry Dogs run faster. From what I have seen from Ohio State, I don’t think the team has what it takes (Talent wise) to go against the Fighting Irish. It has been a while since the Irish had a Quarterback to put up points so this is a refreshing view.

Next. Sam Hartman is on Heisman Watch. dark
