Coming into this College Football Season, I was very high on Notre Dame’s new Quarterback Sam Hartman. He played at Wake Forest and broke some milestones. His accolades include:

  • 110 Touchdown passes (Top 20 in FBS)
  • 12,967 Career Passing Yards (2nd Most in ACC History)
  • 21 Career 300-Yard Passing Games

Notre Dame has struggled looking for “The Guy” as their quarterback.  Hartman has made a statement in his last 3 games. Currently, he is crushing it and nobody is getting in his way.

  • 75% Completion Rate
  • 10 Touchdown Passes
  • 731 Passing Yards
  • 0 Interceptions

Notre Dame is 3-0 and has been blowing out teams. The Fighting Irish faces some tough teams ahead. The true tests will be on Saturday, September 23rd against (#6) Ohio State at home and on Saturday, October 14th against USC.

Notre Dame will win both games against Ohio State and USC and Sam Hartman will be the reason why.

The Heisman competition is fierce. A couple of players that will also be contending for the Heisman are:

Caleb Williams (USC): The heavy favorite to win the Heisman. To me, his play is similar to Kyler Murray and I don’t think it will translate well in the NFL. For him to win it this year, he will have to outdo last year’s performance and have USC go undefeated. Currently, he has 12 Passing Touchdowns for a total of 878 yards, and 1 Rushing Touchdown through 3 games. To date, there has been only one back-to-back Heisman winner, and that was Archie Griffin (Ohio State).

Jordan Travis (FSU): This quarterback balls out! The transfer from Louisville got a chance to display his skills against LSU a couple of weeks ago. In one of the more exciting games, Travis threw 4 Passing Touchdowns for 342 Passing yards and 1 interception against a then top 10 LSU-ranked team. Going to have to see more tape of Travis this year to see if he is the real deal.

Shedeur Sanders (Colorado): Making an immediate impact around the league, it’s all the media is talking about. The hype around Deion Sander’s son is wild! When everyone has doubted him this year, he has stepped up to the challenge. This year, he has passed for 6 touchdowns with a total of 903 passing yards. In his first 2 games, he showed why he is a contender for the Heisman. His skill set of being able to scramble out of the pocket and making accurate throws is something magical and must-watch TV. Regardless if he wins the Heisman or not, he will be a high first-round draft pick for the NFL. The future is bright.

Other honorary mentions:

Quinn Ewers (Texas): Texas is all the way back by beating Alabama last week. This is an upset that Ewers can take to the bank. There are some matchups looking ahead to see if he can prove it.

Michael Penix Jr. (Washington): The former Hoosier Quarterback has something to prove after his second ACL tear. Being injury-prone can not be good, but he definitely has the ball rolling. With 8 Touchdowns for 859 yards and 1 interception, he can make a case if he continues to roll.

Next. Clemson's season opening loss was bad for Notre Dame. dark
