The Chicago Bears have a lot to worry about after week one

The Chicago Bears came into the 2023 season with some hope. After going 3-14 last season and having the number one pick, they could only go up from there.

Of course, they came into week one with hopes that they could beat the Green Bay Packers at home. They are using a quarterback on a regular basis not named Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers for the first time since the early 90s so there was some hope.

All hope might be lost now. The Packers absolutely dismantled the Bears by a final score of 38-20. An 18-point loss to their arch-rival is a horrific way to start the season. That is not at all what they wanted to see.

Everything was bad. The offense was abysmal in both halves and the defense laid down and let the Packers do what they want in the second half after holding their own in the first half.

The Chicago Bears are not in a good spot after Sunday’s loss to Green Bay.

There is a lot to worry about going forward. The coach, the quarterback, and everything in between have to be in question following this game. Yes, it is just one game but we are well into the career of Justin Fields now.

One game is also a lot more meaningful in the NFL when each team only has 17 in a season. He has not been good and the coaching staff did him no favors in this loss to Green Bay. It’s all bad.

Matt Eberflus had a long time to prepare for this game and the team couldn’t have looked any more ill-prepared if they tried. This does not give anyone confidence that they will be able to get it turned around by next week.

Of course, that game will come against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although they won a bad division last year, they still had a losing record. Now, Tom Brady isn’t there to save them anymore either so it will be interesting to see how their season goes.

If the Bears think that it is just going to be a free win for them with all of these things considered, they have another thing coming. If they play as they did in this game against Green Bay, they will be smoked in Tampa too.

Some people might be willing to give them another week to judge but if Fields and the boys aren’t better in week two, they have some serious problems on their hands.
