The NFL season is officially underway! Although our Chicago Bears didn’t play on Thursday night football, everyone was tuned in to watch the Detroit Lions visit the Kansas City Chiefs.

Of course, the Chiefs raised their banner and are now the defending Super Bowl champions. The thing is though, someone forgot to tell the Lions that they are the team that was supposed to lose.

The Lions went into Arrowhead and beat the Chiefs on banner night. It was a great accomplishment for that team who won eight out of their last ten games in 2022 but just missed the playoffs.

Detroit didn’t play their best game but they still found a way to win. Kansas City didn’t play all that well either.

The Chicago Bears cannot take the Detroit Lions lightly anymore going forward.

A game like that is one that the Detroit Lions would lose in every season of the past. This team is different though. They found a way to win a football game and snapped Patrick Mahomes’ 5-0 week one streak.

It is time for the Chicago Bears, the rest of the NFC North, and the NFL in general to be scared of the Detroit Lions and what they are building.

The Lions aren’t likely to win the conference this year and they still may even be a year away from winning the division but they are good.

Not only are they good, but they are also incredibly pesky and obsessed with winning. They all have the mentality of their head coach Dan Campbell.

The Bears and Lions will square off twice this season as division rivals. Their two games will be twice in three games as they meet at Ford Field in Week 11 and at Soldier Field in Week 14 (their bye week is sandwiched in between as well).

By that first matchup in week 11, we will know a lot more about both teams. The Bears, although not a good franchise either, have had their success against the Lions. Don’t assume that will be the case going forward unless they really turn into a great team as well.
