Bears News: The Chicago Bears made another surprising cut
The Chicago Bears are a team looking to take a big step in the season. They are hopeful that quarterback Justin Fields is able to take a huge step and get this off and it’s going in the direction that it needs to go in order to win a lot.
Part of that will be surrounding Justin Fields with tons of great weapons that will help him score a lot of points. The team has mostly done that over the last 18 months.
The hope is that DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, Cole Kmet, and Khalil Herbert amongst others can help him. If they are good enough, the Bears will certainly win more than three games.
On Wednesday, the Chicago Bears made a move that suggests that they believe their offense is headed in the right direction. They decided to cut Dante Pettis and Isaiah Ford ahead of the season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
The Chicago Bears made a couple of surprising decisions on Wednesday.
The Bears had Dante Pettis playing for them last year and signed Isaiah Ford during the off-season by both of them are injured right now. The team and the players came to an injury settlement ahead of the cut.
It will be interesting to see what the Bears do to replace them, especially Pettis who was a good punt returner with the Bears last year.
Going into last year, they would have never made cuts like this a couple of days before the season started. That goes to show how long of a way they have come since that point in time.
Those guys will probably get a chance elsewhere but it is not gonna happen for them with a Chicago Bears. Ryan Poles has not been shy to make these kinds of moves when he believes in something.
Whether it is right or wrong it is hard to go against anything Poles decides at this point. If he is right he will get praise if he’s wrong he will take the heat.
Hopefully, regardless of these moves, the Chicago Bears offense will take big steps. Based on what we see with this team on paper and in the preseason, there is hope for that to be the case.
This is not the kind of Bears news we thought we were going to get on Wednesday afternoon but it is what it is.
