2. PJ Walker

The Chicago Bears decided to move on from PJ Walker this preseason.

The Chicago Bears had PJ Walker in to be the backup quarterback for Justin Fields. That seemed like a great idea at the time of the signing.

However, you have to earn your spots. It is pretty surprising, after all of that, that PJ Walker has been released by the Chicago Bears before we even reached week one.

It felt like they might not have the courage to make this move by the end of the preseason but it was clearly the smart move to make.

Tyson Bagent won the backup quarterback job fair and square. He was good at camp and in the preseason games that he played in. Walker was not.

What is the point of all that if you just keep guys for their name or salary? Winning teams keep the players that earn spots. The Bears did that with their backup quarterback. It shouldn’t be surprising but it is.
