There appears to be no change in the Chicago White inclination to move forward with the promotion of Chris Getz.

Reports last week were that Getz was set to be named the next general manager of the White Sox with Dayton Moore joining the organization in an advisory role.

While White Sox fans were hoping that news of Getz’s promotion was a trial balloon by the team and that the hiring would not take place, the signs are pointing that won’t be the case.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported on Tuesday morning that industry expectation is for the White Sox to make an internal hire for their next head of baseball operations and that Getz was the top internal candidate.

The Chicago White Sox are moving forward with Chris Getz being their top baseball voice.

This was always going to be the outcome of the White Sox’s “search” for a new top baseball executive. I use the word “search” loosely due to the inevitability of Getz’s promotion and the fact that the team did not reach out to potential candidates such as Mike Rizzo, Theo Epstein, or David Stearns.

It is yet another instance where the White Sox seemingly took a step forward with the firings of Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn but then proceeded to take two steps backward with the promotion of Getz.

It can not be emphasized enough that a large part of the reason why Williams and Hahn lost their jobs is because of the incompetency of Getz in his job. Getz oversaw the White Sox minor league system and player development and considering the lack of progress from either area since 2017, it remains to be seen how he has the credentials to be the top voice in a baseball organization.

With Getz seemingly the new frontman of the White Sox, there is no reason to believe there will be change and that the sinkholes that broke the organization will be filled.

Three ways it can get worse for the White Sox. dark. Next
