Bears News: A late-night trade addresses the OL issues
The Chicago Bears are looking for some depth at the offensive line positions. They are also looking for some experience.
There have been some injuries and bad players over the years but they are hoping that it is at least slightly improved this year.
Well, now that the preseason is over and some cuts have been made, they decided to pull the trigger on a trade.
Ryan Poles is not afraid to make deals for players that he thinks will make his team better. He did that on Monday and it is coming out on the late side of things.
The Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins made a trade on Monday late at night.
A 6th round pick is going back to the Miami Dolphins and the Bears are receiving veteran Dan Feeney. He is someone who can bring both experience and depth to this group.
Feeney is someone that can play both guard and center which will bring some stability for the Bears at those positions.
Justin Fields is clearly someone who needs more protection, especially with the way he plays. It is a top priority for the Chicago Bears at this point as they are hoping he is their franchise quarterback. Feeney will help out with that.
He spent the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers before playing the last two with the New York Jets.
After signing with the Maimi Dolphins, they traded him to the Chicago Bears before he ever played a snap.
Feeney is from Orland Park, Illinois. He went to Sandburg High School in Illinois and played his college football at Indiana. You love to see a local kid come home.
It is unclear at this moment what his role with the team will be this year but you know Ryan Poles wouldn’t give up a sixth-round pick for no reason. This is very interesting news and we can only hope that it helps the Chicago Bears in the long run.
Anything that helps Justin Fields have more time should be welcomed by Bears fans. Maybe this is something that can help the Bears improve in that area. In Ryan Poles we trust.
