Chicago Bears: Expect this rookie to have a big preseason finale
The Chicago Bears have a huge preseason game ahead of them. This is their final chance to showcase their skills and get ready for the regular season.
After this, the games begin for real. Everyone, starters, reserves, and fringe roster players all have a ton of pressure on them now.
One player that you can expect to have a huge preseason finale is Roschon Johnson. The Chicago Bears selected Johnson in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas.
He is getting ready to embark on his rookie season in the National Football League. It would benefit him greatly if he were to have a great finish to the exhibition season.
The Chicago Bears are going to love having running back Roschon Johnson.
Johnson would have been drafted way higher and had a lot more hype if he went to any other school besides Texas.
He was the backup at Texas there behind Bijan Robinson. Robinson was the eighth overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons because he was that good in college.
Johnson is said to be a very good player in his own right but just had a complete superstar ahead of him. Nobody knows if Johnson is just as good but he will get his chance to try in the NFL.
Robinson will become Atlanta’s number one guy right away because of his pedigree but Johnson should end up being very good as well.
Right now, Khalil Herbert is the top running back in Chicago. David Montgomery left the team in free agency and is now a member of the Detroit Lions.
It would be nice to see Herbert and Johnson form one of the better RB duos in the NFC. If that happens, Justin Fields will have significantly less pressure on him when it comes to making plays with his feet. He will still use that ability to scramble but good running backs will make it less often.
Again, expect a big game from Johnson. He has tons of talent and now he might have a legitimate chance to make an impact on this offense. Having a very good final game here in the preseason could really help his case for 2023. We’ll see what comes next for him beyond that.
