The Chicago Bears were not a good team in 2022. I’m fact, they had the worst record in the National Football League. It was not, however, because their quarterback play was so bad. It was because the team wasn’t good.

Now, they are coming into this season hoping that the moves that they made are good enough to get them to a respectable level.

Who knows, they may even be a playoff team in a bad NFL if literally everything goes their way. Although their QB play in 2022 was good it is probably not good enough.

Coming into 2023, they need their franchise guy to be even better. They also need to make sure that the QB room is good enough to help him, including if he misses games for whatever reason.

Because of how the preseason has gone, there is a QB2 quarterback controversy. Based on how this has all gone in August, this is how the quarterback room should look in week one:

1. Justin Fields

Justin Fields is the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears in 2023.

Everyone knows that Justin Fields is the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. They want him to become an elite QB in this league as they have never had one of those before.

They can win if he is just above average but if he is only average, they should not stick with him in the long term. You can’t win unless the quarterback helps you win games.

In 2022, he was good but not great. With that in mind, their record was far from his fault. He had no weapons, no line, and played with a bad defense.

He was outstanding on the ground but his air game wasn’t good enough. Again, the weapons weren’t there for him though. Now, there is plenty of talent around him so he needs to show out running and throwing.

Right now though, the vibes are good and everyone believes in him. Having a QB1 going into the season is a great feeling for Chicago Bears fans, especially when the sky is the limit.
