Chicago Bears: 3 shocking cuts they should make right now
2. Dante Pettis
The Chicago Bears don’t need to have Dante Pettis on their team anymore.
For most of National Football League history, the Chicago Bears have had bad wide receivers. There have been a couple of good ones at the top of the roster but the depth has always been weak at that position.
Now, they are hoping that DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney, and Chase Claypool form a very good top-three trio. With Justin Fields trying to develop in the passing game, these three should really help him.
However, the Bears have tons of wide receivers on the roster right now. A few of them have earned jobs as the WR4 or a punt returner but it is hard to see Dante Pettis making that much of an impact.
The Bears don’t need to keep him and he could absolutely be a cut for this team. A lot of things can change but they can’t keep all of these guys.
Unless he has a monster finish to the preseason, it is hard to justify keeping him on this offense. Of all the notable WRs that could get cut, he is at the top of the list.
Again, it is not impossible that he gets to stay but it doesn’t make much sense at this point in time over some of the younger guys.
