John Gibson is a wild card type of goalie for the Chicago Blackhawks to consider.

The Chicago Blackhawks have played against John Gibson a lot over the course of his career. It has been mostly spent with an Anaheim Ducks team that has had its ups and downs lately.

Early in Gibson’s career, when Frederik Andersen was also there, the Ducks were one of the best teams in the National Hockey League.

Their core aged out and they started to rebuild. Well, that has been hard on the prime of John Gibson’s career, even after Andersen was traded away.

Now, the Ducks might be looking to move on from Gibson after a few tough years. He is a wild card acquisition though because he could be great again on a good team or he could prove he was part of the problem in Anaheim. It is probably the former if we are being honest.

Gibson would also not be as expensive in terms of trade value. The Ducks might also be willing to eat some of his contract which makes him a consideration as well.

He’d fit in well on the Hawks for a while as he has a better chance of being good in 2023-24 than anyone they have. While they wait for Arvid Soderblom or Drew Commesso to take over, he’d be a great stop-gap.
