The Chicago Blackhawks are trying to become a better team for the future. Yes, they want to have a good year in 2023-24 because of the fact that Connor Bedard will be stepping into the NHL.

However, in order to get the most out of Bedard, this team needs to be thinking about his entire career and not just his rookie year.

There are a few players on this team right now that the Hawks should try to trade away so that they can get something for them if possible.

Some will be harder than others but they should at least try. It would be awesome to see these three players go before August is over:

The Chicago Blackhawks should do whatever they can to move Seth Jones.

The Chicago Blackhawks made the bold trade for Seth Jones a few years ago as they tried to go for it one more time in the tenures of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

It was a bad idea then and it is still a bad idea now. As the team traded for him, they also needed to make sure he got a contract extension and they gave him way too much money for way too long.

Stan Bowman left Kyle Davidson with one final mess to clean up before he headed out of town. Jones is a good player but making over nine million against the cap in your late 20s and early 30s is not a good way to rebuild.

Kyle Davidson should be doing everything he can to trade Jones. It would mean that the Hawks don’t have a number one guy in 2023-24 but it will also relieve so much cap money off the books which would surely help them in the coming years, especially as Jones starts to decline.

Again, this one might be really hard but he must try. A contending team might take a chance on a trade like this if they are truly going for it. The term on the contract is certainly going to make it very hard with a cap hit like that.
