The Chicago White Sox have been quiet since their deals last week of pitchers Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Lance Lynn, Joe Kelly, and Kendall Graveman.

The expectation was that the White Sox moves would continue through the weekend and up until the Trade Deadline at 5 pm CST on Tuesday afternoon but there have been little indications of a move being close.

That figures to change this afternoon in the closing hours leading up to the deadline and the White Sox could be very active.

670 The Score MLB insider Bruce Levine reported on Tuesday that center fielder Luis Robert Jr is the only player that the White Sox are not willing to trade.

Of course, the attention will be on starting pitcher Dylan Cease. Given the price that is on starting pitchers at the deadline, the White Sox could be in a position to get a haul for Cease. Cease is under team control for two more seasons so the acquiring team would not only be getting an ace-caliber pitcher for a post-season run this season but the two seasons following 2023 as well.

While the White Sox want fans to believe that the goal is to return to contention in 2024, talent evaluators believe it may not be until 2025 at the earliest. If that is the case, the White Sox need to seriously consider moving Cease.

The Chicago White Sox may be angling toward a trade of Dylan Cease.

After previously being believed to be untouchable, the market may have shifted the White Sox’s thoughts on Cease. Levine also reported that Cease is a hot name on the market with the Baltimore Orioles having interest.

A trade with the Orioles would certainly expedite the White Sox’s rebuild.

The Orioles have eight players on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospect list and there is no doubt that multiple of those prospects would be included in a deal for Cease.
