We are currently in the middle of trade deadline season. The entire league is being put in a blender because of these moves and rumors.

Of course, the Chicago Cubs are in on all of it. A few trades have already been made to improve the team’s chances of making the playoffs.

They have already announced (kind of) that they won’t be trading Cody Bellinger or Marcus Stroman.

That remains to be seen but it is fair to assume that this is accurate right now because of the fact that they have already started buying.

Why would they buy rentals and then trade Bellinger or Stroman? They really wouldn’t do that so they are in on this 2023 season.

The Chicago Cubs have some decisions to make in the coming hours.

Pete Crow-Armstrong is the team’s top prospect. He is unreal and should be in Major League Baseball in no time as he was just promoted to AAA this week.

Cade Horton is another prospect on this team that is unlikely to be moved as he could be a front-line starter one day. Only teams that are World Series or bust trade guys like that.

However, there is one very good prospect that the Cubs might consider trading before Tuesday’s deadline. That player is outfielder Brennen Davis.

Davis has been the team’s top and number two prospect in the past. He has also been a Top 100 guy before which means he was highly thought of.

He has fallen off a little bit and now ranks number seven in the system. If the Cubs could use him to get some help, they should do it. He is currently injured which makes him less of a target for some teams but he is being passed up while he recovers.

Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki are locked up long-term as outfielders. They are hoping to lock up Cody Bellinger for the long haul as well and he could play outfield as well. The Cubs also have two outfield prospects ranked ahead of him now and one of them is Pete Crow-Armstrong.

There isn’t much room and Davis should be traded to maximize his potential. He is in AAA and could be in MLB soon so the Cubs should make something happen.

If he could help the team add another starter or good reliever, it should be on the table for Jed Hoyer to think about saying yes.

Davis also deserves the opportunity to make it with a big-league club. If it isn’t going to be with the Cubs, it should be with someone else. If a selling team added him, chances are they’d give him some MLB playing time soon. Hopefully, the Cubs and Davis get at least something out of this all.
