There has been an overwhelming expectation that the next piece to move of the Chicago White Sox sell-off as the Major League Baseball trade deadline approaches is veteran starting pitcher Lance Lynn.

Dating back to Wednesday, before Lynn’s start against the Chicago Cubs, there was a belief that a deal was imminent.

The White Sox did make a move on Wednesday night but it was the trade of veteran starting pitcher and relief pitcher Reynaldo Lopez to the Los Angeles Angels.

Lynn spoke with reporters ahead of the White Sox’s loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night and was critical of the way that the team has handled the rumors.

"“Yeah, in the past I’ve had a little bit more communication knowing what’s going on, knowing what might happen,” Lynn said.“When you wake up at 8 a.m., and everyone thinks you’ve been traded to three different teams, it’s different. I’m not going to lie. There’s been no communication. Nobody told me that anything’s close or anything like that, so you’ve just got to go pitch.”-Daryl Van Schouwen via Chicago Sun Times"

Lance Lynn blasts the Chicago White Sox for handling of trade rumors.

This has been a miserable end to what was supposed to be the contending window for the White Sox.

The signal of contending times being over was on Wednesday night as the team moved their former ace in Giolito. Giolito’s departure from the White Sox left a deflating feeling for the fanbase as many were coming to the realization that the rebuild failed with the White Sox failing to record a single post-season series victory.

Now, Lynn, whose contract was believed to represent the White Sox’s window of contention, has not held back with his thoughts on how the team has handled the trade rumors.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Lynn is one of the veteran players that has been seeking a departure from the White Sox.

Based on previous reporting, Lynn has already shown an inclination to waive his no-trade clause for a deal with either the Los Angeles Dodgers or Tampa Bay Rays. The Texas Rangers also have interest in Lynn and given the history, it seems unlikely that the Rangers are on Lynn’s list of teams that he would block a trade to.
