The Chicago Bears are underway in the 2023 Training Camp. There is a lot of emphasis on helping Justin Fields along this year as it is very important for the future of the franchise.

However, don’t underestimate how impactful having a good defense can be on a team taking big steps offensively. If the defense does its job, the offense will have more time to cook.

In turn, that will help Justin Fields grow into the quarterback that the Bears need him to be. Hopefully, we see more signs of that from a passing point of view this year.

The defense was one of the worst in franchise history last year. The opponents walked all over them at times and now they need to improve.

Some changes (additions) were made during the off-season but there can be more. In fact, there are still some really good free agents out there to consider still even though camp has started. The Bears should consider one of these three:

1. Justin Houston

The Chicago Bears would be a much better team if they added some leadership.

The Chicago Bears should really consider Justin Houston. There are already rumors out there that they have thought about signing him.

The Chicago Bears don’t have a lot of older players on their team. Coming into 2023, it might be smart to add a veteran that has played in the league for a long time. The Bears could really use a guy like that.

That is especially true for their defense. They were awful in 2022 on that side of the ball and could now use some leadership. He is also still a very good player that will help them on the football side of things as well.

Justin Houston is still looking for a home in the NFL and the Bears make so much sense for him. This would be a very wise decision.
