The Chicago White Sox are one of the known sellers ahead of the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline on August 1.

While the focus for the White Sox as the deadline approaches has been on their pitching that may be available such as Lucas Giolito, shortstop Tim Anderson remains a curious trade piece for the team.

Anderson’s 2023 season has been a disappointment on the field while he has been dealing with drama off the field.

Anderson has yet to hit a home run this season and is slashing .241/.281/.283 with a 56 wRC+ through 331 plate appearances.

In a sign, however, that he may finally be healthy, Anderson has been on a tear offensively since the All-Star break. Anderson is slashing .378/.439/.432 with a wRC+ of 151 in his first 41 plate appearances of the second half.

Anderson has a $14MM club option for the 2024 season and there has been some speculation that the White Sox may be willing to move the shortstop that was once believed to be on the cusp of being the face of Major League Baseball.

Teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers have been frequently mentioned as a suitor for Anderson as the belief around Major League Baseball is that the White Sox shortstop is just in need of a change of scenery.

That was the premise of MLB Network Insider’s Jon Morosi hit on MLB Network on Tuesday morning when he mentioned three teams with interest in Anderson.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is drawing interest as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches.

The three teams mentioned are the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays. The interesting case with each of those teams is that Anderson would presumably have to shift over to second base.

It will be interesting to see how the White Sox attempt to spin an Anderson trade. Anderson, on his own, likely does not have high enough trade value to make it worth the White Sox’s attempt to move their shortstop. But having Anderson packaged in a deal with a reliever such as Kendall Graveman may be how the White Sox get the most prospect value in return.

Next. Lucas Giolito will be traded. dark
