There is a sense of inevitably for Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches on August 1.

Giolito will be a free agent this winter and the White Sox have shown no inclination to sign their former ace to a contract extension.

With the White Sox being firm sellers at the trade deadline and starting pitcher always being a commodity at the deadline, Giolito is viewed by many to be among the most coveted trade chips this season.

That was the premise of The Athletic’s latest piece where they list the player most likely to be traded from each team at the deadline and it is no surprise to see the White Sox’s candidate.

"Even in the weak AL Central, the White Sox are well out of the race. That means they could look to sell some of their biggest trade chips. Giolito, on an expiring deal, is the most natural trade candidate they have. He’s already a hot name as one of the best pitchers in a market heavy on buyers.-The Athletic"

All eyes remain on a potential Lucas Giolito trade for the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox remain in an ideal position to trade Giollito as the indecisiveness from the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres may lead contending teams to target the White Sox pitching.

Speaking of contending teams, an interesting note surfaced on Monday in regard to who the Cincinnati Reds may be willing to offer in a potential trade for pitching.

India would be a tremendous get for the White Sox in a trade with the Reds. India would be a cost-controlled second baseman for the White Sox while being under team control until 2027.

The issue for the White Sox is the idea that the Reds would be seeing young, cost-controlled starting pitching. Giolito is neither. Meaning, the White Sox may have to include a sweetener in the deal. Or, perhaps, the White Sox are willing to trade Michael Kopech and a framework of Kopech for India is the base of a deal between the two teams.

Next. Lucas Giolito will be traded. dark
