Chicago Bears: Justin Fields declines to be on Netflix’s “Quarterback”
Justin Fields is entering his third season in the NFL. He’s already one of the most explosive players in the league.
In 2022, he broke the single-game rushing record with 178 yards versus the Miami Dolphins. He also broke the Bears’ all-time single-season rushing record by a quarterback with 1,143 yards.
Recently, the Bears’ signal caller had the opportunity to be featured on season 2 of the Netflix documentary “Quarterback.” Fields politely declined.
The series has been a hit so far. It’s currently sitting at number three in Netflix’s top 10 shows in the United States. A week ago, it sat at the top spot.
The quarterbacks featured in Season One were Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota. Viewers got an in-depth look at each player on the field every Sunday. We also got to see the players’ family lives and the preparation that goes into playing the position.
It makes sense for Justin Fields to decline this opportunity right now.
From a fan’s perspective, it’d be cool to get a look inside the everyday life of Justin Fields. Bears fans adore him and he’s one of the most popular quarterbacks in the NFL.
However, this is a big season for Fields. He finally has a true wide receiver one, an upgraded offensive line, and comfortability within the offense.
Not to mention the NFC North just became wide open after Aaron Rodgers’ departure from the Packers. Having extra cameras around the facility for a long period of time can be a distraction for the rest of the team.
You don’t find that in a lot of players nowadays. Many want the spotlight on them. Fields understands how big of a season this is for him and doesn’t want the extra attention.
Justin didn’t rule out being on the show in the future. If he decides to do it one day, he would be great for the series. Fields has a great personality and shows a lot of determination. But for now, he’s focused on leading the Bears to a successful season in 2023.
