3 Cubs players the Angels should demand in a Shohei Ohtani trade
3. Cade Horton
Cade Horton would have to go in a Chicago Cubs trade for Shohei Ohtani.
Peter Crow-Armstrong isn’t the only prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization that the Los Angeles Angels would demand in a trade for Shohei Ohtani.
They would also want the number two prospect in Chicago’s system which is Cade Horton. Of course, Horton was drafted in 2022 in the first round (seventh overall).
He is 21 years old and is currently playing in high-A with the South Bend Cubs. In addition to being the Cubs’ number two guy, he is ranked as the number 46 prospect in all of baseball. Landing at least two top 50 guys would be great for the Angels.
Horton is a right-handed pitcher that has a ceiling in the Major Leagues of a great arm that will help a team win.
That is just the type of player that the Angels will be looking for if they are to trade Ohtani before the deadline.
This would certainly be a haul for the Angels if they were to get rid of Ohtani. It may not end up being a team like the Cubs but they should absolutely try their best to be in the mix.
Ohtani isn’t just another good star being traded. He transforms whatever franchise lands him with ticket sales, merchandise revenue, eyeballs on the team, and play on the field. We’ll see what happens.
