3 Cubs players the Angels should demand in a Shohei Ohtani trade
The Chicago Cubs are a team looking to make some upgrades. It is hard to call them buyers but it is also hard to call them sellers.
With all of that in mind, none of it should matter when it comes to making a trade for someone like Shohei Ohtani.
If you have the chance to trade for the greatest player who ever lived, you do your best. The Cubs have so many resources and are better off than most teams when it comes to ideas like this.
It would take a lot for the Los Angeles Angels to hand Ohtani over. If the Cubs were to be that team, they would demand these three players:
1. Peter Crow-Armstrong
The Chicago Cubs would certainly have to trade PCA for Shohei Ohtani.
Peter Crow-Armstrong is the number one prospect in the system for the Chicago Cubs. He is also the number seven prospect in all of Major League Baseball which tells you just how special people believe he can be.
The Cubs acquired him from the New York Mets in the deal that sent Javier Baez there. Yes, the Mets gave up a player this good for three months of Baez who didn’t stay there for more than three months (and they missed the playoffs).
PCA is currently dominating AA. He will certainly be in AAA soon and should find his Major League debut coming at some point in 2024. The only way the Cubs would give him up is for someone like Shohei Ohtani.
The Angels would certainly want him as a part of the package if they were to make this trade. They are going to get a haul and a player like this would lead the pack.
